A Chinese EV startup is building a ridable robot unicorn for kids
Lookout robodogs, there’s a robounicorn in town. China-based EV startup Xpeng has unveiled a robot unicorn meant for children to ride. The cuter, more kid-friendly version of Boston Dynamics’ Spot will be able to utilize Xpeng’s experiences in autonomous driving and AI to navigate multiple terrains, recognize objects and provide “emotional interaction.”
Zoom Out: Just like a unicorn, however, the quadruped currently doesn’t exist. Xpeng hasn’t revealed any details on when it expects to deliver, the pricing, or availability. Xpeng founder He Xiaopeng said that the robot unicorn was part of a broader move into the robotics space by leveraging the company's existing technology.
