Elon Musk says SpaceX will double Starlink's satellite internet speeds to 300Mbps this year
Elon Musk tweeted that SpaceX's satellite internet service, Starlink, will nearly double this year reaching 300 Mbps. The tweet was in response to a customer posting an at-home speed test result of their newly installed Starlink connection. Musk also added that the growing network of satellites will offer complete global coverage by next year, noting that satellite internet coverage is best in the regions with low to medium population density.
Zoom In: Currently, Starlink has more than 10,000 customers. The company has launched over 1,200 low-Earth orbit satellites, aiming to reach 30,000 ultimately. It offers internet speeds up to 150 Mbps. Customers pay $500 for initial equipment costs and $99 per month for the service.
