Former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the launch of his own social media network, TRUTH Social, to “stand up to Big Tech,” companies like Facebook and Twitter that have barred him from their platforms. The social media news network is set for a beta launch in November and a full national rollout in the first quarter of 2022. The platform’s goal is “to create a rival to the liberal media consortium.”
Zoom In: TRUTH Social will be the first project of Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), which will be listed on NASDAQ through a SPAC merger with Digital World Acquisition Group. The company plans to follow the social media network with a subscription video-on-demand service called TMTG+, featuring entertainment, news, and podcasts. The SPAC, which trades under the ticker DWAC, has skyrocketed more than 1,200% since Wednesday.
