TikTok is partnering with Virtual Dining Concepts (VDC) to launch TikTok Kitchens, hundreds of delivery-only restaurants that will cook up recipes that have gone viral on the app. Starting in March, the company plans to open around 300 locations across the US but plans to expand to more than 1,000 by the end of 2022.
What's cookin', good lookin'?: The TikTok Kitchen menu will change every quarter, making sure to include the platform’s biggest food trends at the time. The initial menu will feature baked feta pasta (the most searched dish of 2021 according to Google), air-fried strops of corn known as corn ribs, cheese-covered pasta chips, and the smash burger. TikTok will give a cut of the profits to both the creators who inspired the recipes and burgeoning food creators on the platform.
