Uber Eats has partnered up with FedEx to offer a nationwide shipping service to its customers in the US. As part of the deal, Uber Eats customers will be able to order gourmet foods through a new tab on the mobile app’s home screen. The merchants will ship the items, and FedEx will deliver the order at an average of 4-7 business days.
- The service starts with 17 merchants from San Francisco, New York City, Miami, and Los Angeles. The merchants include Bludso's BBQ in LA, Sarge's Deli in NYC, Doggi's Arepa Bar in Miami, and La Fromagerie in SF. The company plans to expand the service to other restaurants soon.
- The merchants will set the app prices to reflect product demand, preparation efforts, added packaging, and bulk product.
Zoom In: Competitors include the Danny Meyer-backed marketplace Goldbelly and DoorDash, which has been offering nationwide shipping service in collaboration with Caviar since 2021.
