Chinese AI and internet service giant Baidu has unveiled a group of autonomous minibuses called the Apolong II. The vehicles will be used by public transport, healthcare providers, the police, and the commercial industry. The minibuses can successfully navigate unprotected left turns, lane-switching, and crossing traffic scenarios autonomously.
The second-gen Apolong II minibuses will use Baidu’s vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology and 5G remote driving service. The first-gen Apolong I has already been deployed in 22 urban parks across Beijing, Guangzhou, Xiong’an, Chongqing, and Foshan since its mass production rollout in July 2018.
