A YouTuber known as Shamook, who uses deepfake technology to improve bad CG effects and place actors in movies/shows they never starred in, has been hired by Lucasfilm for improving the widely criticized CGI face of Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian TV series. In what the fan community regards as a huge win, he joined Lucasfilm/Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) a few months ago and his official title is “Senior Facial Capture Artist.” Shamook had also previously deepfaked Tarkin and Leia’s appearances in Rogue One as well.
